during the early 1060s I heard my parents talking one evening about an article in the paper on a woman flyer named Amelia Earhart and her disappearence. It caught my attention because the last name rimmed with air. So I looked up the article and it started a life long journey of trying to find out as much as I could about her. When I read Fred Gorners book on her disappearence I saw in one chapter that her sister was named Muriel Earhart Morrissey and she lived in West Medford Mass. I got the idea of writing her a letter and telling her about how Amelia impacted my life. She answered back and we wrote each other often after that. When I joined the Army in 1967 she wrote me while I was in bootcamp that if it was really hard and I had to complain about it to write her about it instead of my parents so they would not worry about me. Over the next few years I was able to travel to Boston several times and go to her house. She was a gracious lady and I will never forget her. I could see so much of Amelia in her. Their photos together don't do them justice. they did look alike! I am now 63 years old and am as much inthralled with Amelia as I ever was. I would like to believe that she died the way she wanted to. In her plane quickly. AME1

I meant to say 1960s. I'm a lousy typist. As for her sister, she was really great. She invited me into her home on several occasions and I really enjoyed the talks we had together.

Just thought you might like to know my Uncle met Amelia when she landed in N.Ireland ..He got a souvenir of her visit by removing a badge of her aeroplane.I have to mention he did not steal it but as he was a complete Aviation fanatic .Amelia give him permission to unscrew the badge (Tag) and now i have it in my posession .. I shall treasure it and pass it on to the new Earhart Center in londonderry if it ever reopens .I have heard a romur that they are moving it from Cornshell into the City Center !!Which in my opinion is a total shame to move it from the exact location where she landed (2 fields away from my own house)..
